We believe in using the power of Visa's network as a force for good, which is why we have created #WhereYouShopMatters, an initiative encouraging the country to think about the positive impact their shopping can have on local communities.
Keep it local
Meet the High Street stars
Finamore Antiques
Dodi was born above the shop one year after the shop opened. She notes that a lot of time, the shop isn’t really a shop, but a place where people pop-in to catch up, creating a real sense of belonging in the area.
Halls of Llandaff
When people started buying books online instead of their local bookstores, Halls of Llandaff started selling fashion jewellery, scarves, toys, and candles instead, aiming to be different and unique. 25 years later, Paul is still working in the card shop, alongside his mother who is 85 years old and still works full time, six days a week.
Brockwell Art Services
A friendly family run business established 30 years ago, firmly established within the South of London art scene. The little shop displays work by local artists and sells a carefully curated range of prints and other works of art. As well as selling a beautiful range of ready-made frames, the expert team also offers bespoke framing, glazing and mounting services for clients’ own artwork, certificates, posters, embroidery or medals.
East Bristol Bakery
In early 2019 Rob took over East Bristol Bakery, and Lauren heads up the team making amazing bread for city centre Easton as well as Brockley in the country and some amazing Bristol restaurants and cafes. They have a mix of experienced bakers and newbies with a shared love of baking. Before the sun rises, the smell of freshly baked bread is wafting down the high street and the bakeries roasting with hot ovens and hard work!
Jim's Cafe
Drew has owned Jim's Cafe for 2 years, however the cafe has been there since the 1960's, starting life as an ice cream factory and, it has evolved over the decades into the restaurant it is today. It was previously operated as a high-end restaurant, but still looks largely the same as when it first opened.
